Authorities recently reported about the shocking suicide attempt of a 20-year-old woman from Houston, Texas. According to the police, the young female tried to take her life away after being raped.
The sexual assault victim hid in a large garbage can and tried to end her life by stabbing herself over and over again.
The woman allegedly decided to take her own life because she could not stand the shame and feeling so distraught after the misconduct she had to endure.
The young woman explained to the police officers that she first met the person who assaulted her in the laundry department of an apartment complex in the southeast part of Houston.
The two of them were reportedly engaged in a conversation before entering one of the apartments.
It was upon entering the apartment that the man took advantage of the female, but she eventually managed to escape.
After leaving the premises of the apartment complex, the victim of the alleged sexual misconduct found a hiding spot in a dumpster, where she tried to commit suicide by stabbing herself in the neck.
A police report about the incident read, “She was distraught over the assault and began stabbing herself.”
According to the authorities, the woman climbed back out of the dumpster but fell on the ground unconscious, where a passing security guard later found her.
The woman was then brought to the nearest hospital, where medics saved her life. For the time being the danger for the life of the woman is gone, but her condition remains still very serious.
However, it is not clear if officials were looking for the alleged suspect of sexual misconduct. He had not been identified, and a description was not released.
However, the Houston Police Department Major Assaults and Family Violence Division is said to be investigating the case.
