According to recent reports, a Westwego, Louisiana woman successfully fought off a rape attempt after she was attacked with a knife, biting her attacker’s genitals and getting the weapon out of his hands before fleeing to safety.
The two had met through the Plenty of Fish dating app and were together in the alleged rapist’s home when he tried to take advantage of her in an aggressive manner.
The alleged attacker, John Wesley Patton, 54, invited the woman to his home after the two were supposed to meet at a bar, and offered to introduce her to his sister, who was allegedly in another room of the house.
However, the 50-year-old victim instead found the house to be empty, save for the two of them, right as the attacker came up to her with a knife and placed his hand around her mouth.
For whatever reasons, he was unable to force her into having regular sex, so instead, he asked her to perform oral sex on him.
At this point, she took the chance to fight back and ran out of the room, wrestling the attacker’s weapon away from him.
However, it was not until the next morning that she was finally able to leave the house for good, convincing her attacker to let her go.
As can be expected, she immediately contacted police and reported the incident, which was followed by the arrest of the alleged rapist and an ongoing police investigation.
Authorities have not released any specific information about the case, and neither has either side involved in the incident at this point.
However, it took authorities close to seven hours before they could get in contact with the suspect.
The man is facing charges of charges of rape, aggravated sexual battery, and false imprisonment.
Patton is currently held at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center.
